~ The lead actors share their experience of shooting with Ashutosh Gowariker and give an insight into their characters ~
NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Star Plus’ new series EVEREST, which is written and produced by Ashutosh Gowariker, has been the talk of the town! With a unique storyline, the makers want to inspire viewers to conquer their own dreams and ambitions – achieve their own EVEREST! The two lead boys, Sahil Salathia and Rohan Gandotra, were in Chandigarh to share their experience of working with Ashutosh & their dream debut on television.
EVEREST is the story of Anjali, portrayed by Shamata Anchan, a 21 year old girl who gets a rude shock when she realizes that her father, who she hero worshipped, wanted a son. Along with Anjali the show also follows the journey of 2 other leads, Sahil Salathia who plays the role of Arjun Sabharwal, a 28 year old mountaineer whose greatest ambition in life is to challenge Mt. Everest and Rohan Gandotra who plays the role of Aakash Joshi – a dare-devil journalist who has his own Everest to conquer, to climb Mt. Everest despite his fear of heights. All three debut on television with EVEREST and have worked hard to bring to life their nuanced and layered characters.
Rohan Gandotra was selected from over 200 people to play the role of Aakash Joshi and had to undergo around 7 look tests. He says, “I had to undergo acting and rigorous mountaineering workshops to play the character of Aakash convincingly. It has been a challenge for me and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity too to debut with a maestro like Ashutosh Gowariker.”
Sahil Salathia who plays the character of Arjun Sabhrawal, says, “I feel extremely honoured that Ashutosh Sir chose me as one of the leads of the show. It was after a series of look tests that I was finalised to play Arjun Sabhrawal. After that, I breathe, sleep, eat and live EVEREST during every moment of my life, as I have given all I have to play this role as narrated by Ashutosh Sir.”
The series has brought together some of the finest artistes from both, Indian Film and Television Industry. Apart from launching the three leads, the stellar cast also includes Suhasini Mulay, Milind Gunaji , Rajat Kapoor, Manish Choudhary, Kishori Shahane and Mohan Kapoor.
