NewZNew (Mohali) : A renowned clinician in the field of gastroenterology and liver diseases and a distinguished therapeutic endoscopist, Dr. Deepak Kumar Bhasin (MD, DM, FAMS, FASGE, AGAF) has joined Fortis Hospital Mohali as Director – Gastroenterology. He was till recently Head of Department of Gastroenterology at PGIMER Chandigarh, where he worked as faculty for nearly three decades.
Dr. Bhasin is an expert in Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C infections, and fatty liver disease. He specialises in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, biliary and pancreatic diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, acid peptic disease, celiac disease, diarrhoea and irritable bowel syndrome and many other gastrointestinal disorders. He is a part of the committee for formulating national guidelines on abdominal tuberculosis and also on task force for reflux esophagitis.
Dr. Bhasin has to his credit nearly 400 research publications in international and national journals. He has been visiting professor at several prestigious universities in USA.
He has received various national and international awards for his contribution to patient care and research. His research work is widely cited in the international text books of gastroenterology.
Dr Bhasin has been President of Indian Society of Gastroenterology and President Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India. He has been awarded fellowships of American Gastroenterology Association (AGAF), American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (FASGE) and Fellowship of National Academy of Medical Sciences (FAMS).
