NewZNew (Batth/Bathinda) : The union Minister for Food Processing Mrs Harsimrat Kaur Badal today said that when her ministry established mega food park at Fazilka and gave sanction for mega food parks at Ludhiana and Kapurthala, the Punjab cry did not whimper. Similarly, when union government sanctioned Indian Institute of Management (IIM) for Amritsar and Rs 1000 cr grant for lining of the canals in state, the Congress president Pratap Singh Bajwa chose to remain mum. Now when the union government has sanctioned premier medical institute – All India Institute for Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for Bathinda, why is Congress raising hue and cry? Due to these wrong policies and corrupt practices, the Congress is slipping into oblivion and is just limited to making statements.

Mrs Badal said this while talking to media persons during sangat darshan program. She said that with the coming up of AIIMS Bathinda not only the neighboring districts but evne the neighboring states would be immensely benefitted as people would be able to get world class treatment free of cost. The AIIMS Bathinda is a ray of hope for the people battling against cancer, which Congress is making fun of by passing political statements. She added that Congress was a party of opportunists and synonym for corruption and lies. She said that during the 10 years of Congress regime in center, it had 5-6 union ministers from Punjab, who failed to bring even one good project for state, whereas during pats one year of its rule, the Modicenter government has given a number of projects to Punjab.

Assuring pensioners she said that Punjab government was committed to give every pensioner his or her due right. She told that some opposition parties in Punjab had filed case regarding pensions in the High Court after which the pensions were stopped and re-verified. After re-verification the pensions were continued. However, during re-verification exercise in state many genuine as well as fake cases were detected. She appealed the genuine cases, who have not got their pensions, to approach the concerned officer for pensions.

She added that the SAD-BJP government’s main focus was crop diversification that will strengthen the economy of farmers. To increase the income of farmers government has opened mega food park projects and a training-cum-business incubation center has been opened at Bathinda to guide and train farmers on the crops they can process and increase their source of income.

Today she distributed grants worth lacs for initiating development works in villages. At Kartar Singh Thande she gave Rs 7 lacs, at Lehra Soundha she gave Rs 11.50 lacs, at village Batth she gave Rs 24 lacs, at village Marhi she gave Rs 9 lacs, at Bajoana she gave Rs 12.50 lacs and at village Kalyan Malkan she gave Rs 11.20 lacs.
