The campaign was first announced on March 31 through a fun and creative video featuring ixigo’s co-founders, Aloke Bajpai and Rajnish Kumar, in a quirky and never-seen-before avatar. What initially seemed like a prank turned out to be one of the most unexpected and delightful giveaways!

The sale, which ran on 1st April from 11 AM to 9 PM, gave ixigo users a chance to win a full refund on their flight bookings. Every hour, 10 winners were randomly selected from domestic and international flight bookings made during that period.

Winners automatically received ixigo money equivalent to the full refund value, credited directly to their ixigo account. This ixigo money can be used for their next booking on the ixigo app or website within 90 days (100% redeemable).

As users debated whether it was too good to be true, ixigo kept the suspense alive by announcing winners through fun Instagram Reels every hour. What started as an April Fool’s prank turned into a real treat for travel lovers – proving that sometimes, the joke can be on scepticism!

ixigoer, Zubair received a refund of ₹39,950 for his flight from Bangalore to Singapore. Another traveller received ₹18,483 on their flight from Dubai to Mumbai. Jitendra received ₹13,622 refund for his Muscat to Ayodhya flight, while Aishwarya got ₹8,325 back for her Mumbai to Kolkata journey.

This campaign redefined April Fool’s Day marketing by turning a playful concept into a real reward, pushing the boundaries of engagement. Instead of a gimmick offer, ixigo turned it into a useful and rewarding experience, blending fun with real value.
