NewZNew (Chandigarh) : To revive the traditional craft of the region of Awadh, Art Karat brings you an elegant range of exquisite jewellery crafted in Awadhi styles. The collection gently textured with pearls and designed with detailed and intricate workmanship, integrates the heritage of Awadh with aesthetics of modern sensibilities.
The ‘Umrao Jaan’ collection is being exhibited at Hotel Park Plaza, Sector 17-A, Chandigarh. The Jewellery Show will continue from 13th to 16th March.
Awadhi jewellery has been a choice of royalty in the bygone age. Highly patronised by not only Nawab Wajid Ali Shah, also Royce from Avadh to Lahore, the jewellery designs featured gentle use of embedded Navratna (nine gems) stones and pearls. The designer, Asha Kamal Modi has incorporated similar styles in her collection, reminiscent of the rich glory of Awadh.
As Asha Kamal Modi says “Jewellery is an art and art is for generations to treasure and feel proud of to own and wear. The `Awadh Collection’ has been designed for those who desire unique wearable art.”
Studded with precious and semi-precious stones, the collection provides the wearer a graceful, royal look. From an amazing variety of chokars, necklaces, earrings, chand baalis, rings, bajubandhs, tikas, anklets, bangles to bracelets, each jewellery piece features meticulous craftsmanship and reflects magnificent classical lines.
The `Awadh Collection’ will be showcased at Chandigarh from 13th to 16th March 2015.
Many celebrities, film stars, politicians, and artists including Rekha, Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai, Tina Ambani, Cherry Blaire and Alicia Keys have adorned Asha’s designs. Asha has also done some fabulous pieces for Royalty including Princess Diana, Queen Rania of Jordan, Shekha Shamma Crown Princess of UAE and Maharani Gayatri Devi Jaipur.
