NewZNew (Chandigarh) :  Taking the e-governance initiative of the Government of Punjab a step further, Welfare Minister Mr. Gulzar Singh Ranike launched the website, www.welfarepunjab.gov.in of the Department of Welfare today.

While addressing, Mr. Gulzar Singh Ranike said that to create awareness about the welfare schemes disseminate the information and to bring transparency in the functioning of the department, a website has been developed by the Minority Wing with the help of National Informatics Centre.  This website contains information of Rules & Regulations of the Department and also links with Punjab SC finance Corporation, Punjab BC Corporation, Director SCSP, Punjab State SC Commission and Punjab State BC Commission.

Mrs. Seema Jain, Secretary Welfare said that the Welfare Department is already using information Technology for the sake of efficiency, transparency and good governance.  She said that the Web-Portal “Ashirwad” is a very robust platform through which the scholarship schemes of SC & BC students  covering 3,05,897 and  97,000 beneficiaries respectively is being administered through web portal, online disbursement of scholarship amount and maintenance allowance is made to lacs of students who are covered under the scheme.

At launching ceremony, Sh. Paramjit Singh, Director Welfare, Sh. Chaman Lal Wason, Director SCSP, Executive Directors of Backfinco & SCFC, Chairmen of Commissions/Boards and other officers of the department were also present.
