NewZNew (Malerkotla/Sangrur) : Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today categorically said that the ‘the entertainer politicians’ without any sufficient administrative experience and acumen could hardly contribute anything tangible towards the development of the state and the welfare of its people, adding he specifically mentioned that the pro-people and development oriented policies of SAD-BJP alliance were the most appropriate to ensure well being of all sections of the society cutting across the religio-political barriers.

Addressing the gathering during Eid Milan program organized by former Director General of Police (DGP) Janaab Izhaar Aalam here today, the Chief Minister said that several new parties have mushroomed up in the state and were trying to befool the voters through hollow slogans and mimicries but it was on record that only the alliance has steadfastly safeguarded the interest of Punjab and Punjabis. He asked the people to at least draw comparison between the performers and tricksters, adding he said that such politicians could merely entertain the audience by playing to the gallery through their senseless speeches full of beans but couldn’t deliver the goods effectively when these people were entrusted with onerous responsibility of running the government. “So I ardently request all of you not to be swayed by such swindlers especially the youth rather they should disseminate the message of peace and prosperity amongst the masses at the grass root” he added.

Slamming the Congress party for shedding crocodile tears over agrarian issues in the state, the Chief Minister said that it was on record that farmers of the country were suffering due to the regressive policies of successive Congress governments at the centre. He said that Congress was now exploiting the sentiments of farming community for their vested interest whereas they have done nothing concrete for the welfare of peasantry. “The Congress is now a frustrated lot and a spent force just exploiting the sentiments of the people through its time tested policy of ‘divide and rule’ to weaken the bonds of communal harmony, amity and brotherhood in the country” added Mr. Badal.

On the other hand, the Chief Minister said that the SAD-BJP alliance government has taken every possible step to protect the interests of the farming community in the state. Likewise, he said that Punjab has scaled new heights of peace and progress under the regime of alliance. Mr. Badal said that due to concerted efforts of the state government, Punjab was today the only state in the country which was power surplus. “Above all, the most creditable achievement of our government is that we are committed to promote the ethos of communal harmony, peace and brotherhood in the state” he added.

Earlier interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of state level function to observe Eid-ul-Zuha here today at local Eid Gah, the Chief Minister in a major Eid bonanza for the residents of Malerkotla, also announced that state government would make all out efforts for setting up a mega food park in the region. He said that there was a vast potential of setting up food Park in this region for which the state government would encourage the private players to step in. Mr. Badal said that the Union government was offering subsidy for setting up such ventures adding that state government would also facilitate the private entrepreneurs for getting the subsidy. “We will make every effort to establish a food park here to ensure holistic development of this historic city” he added.

Replying to another query, the Chief Minister further said that in a major step aimed at providing world class civic amenities to residents of the cities across the state, the Punjab government has embarked a major scheme providing the facility of water supply, sewerage, Sewerage Treatment Plants (STPs), Streetlights, Roads and parks in all the  towns of the state. He said that the focus of the state government was to refurbish the cities with the state-of-the-art facilities so that the residents could be benefitted from it on one hand and giving impetus to the overall development of the state on the other.

Addressing a massive gathering here after offering prayers at the local Eid Gah, the Chief Minister congratulated the people on this sacred festival which symbolizes universal brotherhood, peace and amity. Mr. Badal further said that the state government was duty bound to develop the historic town of Malerkotla and it would be spruced up as ‘Model Town’. He further said that the city would be equipped with the ultra modern infra structure and basic civic amenities for which the efforts were afoot.

The Chief Minister said that in a significant decision our government has also extended the facility of Shagun scheme to the Muslim daughters too. Mr. Badal also said that in the same manner the state government has also directed the Municipal Committees and Nagar Panchayats to ensure that land was provided for the burial grounds of the Muslim community across the state. However, he said that if the land was not available due to any reason then the state government would provide the land by purchasing it.

Recalling the age old ties between the Muslims and Sikhs, the Chief Minister said that the fact that the foundation stone of Sri Harmandir Sahib, the most revered place of Sikhs, was laid down by Sain Mian Meer exhibited the strong bond of unity and brotherhood amongst both the communities. He said that Sikhs could never repay the noble gesture made by the Nawab of Malerkotla by raising voice against the execution of ‘Chotta Sahibzadas’ at Sirhind. Mr. Badal said that every demand made by the people of this city was a ‘divine order’ for them and the state government would leave no stone unturned to fulfill it.

Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Cabinet Minister Mr. Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mrs. Farzaana Aalam, MLA Mr. Iqbal Singh Jhunda, former DGP Janaab Mohammed Izhaar Aalam, former Minister Janaab Nusrat Ali Khan and Deputy Commissioner Mr. AS Thind.
