NewZNew (Chandigarh) : In order to spread awareness about the water scarcity problem across the country & taking onus of spreading awareness around significance of water conservation BIG FM organized one of the largest national painting competition for kids on ‘World Environment Day’- ‘Pani Bachao, Life Banao’. To educate the future generation about the growing water crisis and generate a sense of empathy in these young minds, the competition invited participation from kids below 15 years of age and was spread across the channel’s network simultaneously in Chandigarh , Ludhiana , Jalandhar, Amritsar, Patiala , Shimla, Jammu & 38 other cities today. The competition in Chandigarh was organized today morning at Sukhna Lake, BSNL Society, Bapudham Ashram Sec 26 , Jyoti Sarup Kanya Asra Society, Kharar wherein around 5000 kids in the tricity participated . At Sukhna Lake Sh Anurag Aggarwal, honorable Home Secretary presided over as Honorable Chief Guest . Ms. Richa Adhia Miss Earth Tanzania 2006 Miss Tanzania world 2007 Miss India Tanzania 2010 also attended the event .

The creativity of children came to fore at ‘Pani Bachao, Life Banao’ painting competition. Children made colourful drawings with appropriate and thought provoking slogans which acted as a wake-up call and reinforced the need to take some action to save precious Water. The paintings were beautifully decorated and children displayed their creativity and imagination. The ‘Pani Bachao, Life Banao’ competition gave the children a platform to showcase their talent and made them realize the importance of water in their lives. Participants were judged on different measures like, relevance to theme, neatness and presentation, finishing in given time and message. Students enjoyed the competition and gave their best. A certificate of participation was given to all the participants, while deserving entries were selected  to be published in a digital book.

While speaking on the occasion, Tanya Kaushal , Station Head Big FM Chandigarh  said that we always believe in creating awareness on social issues in an engaging and entertaining manner seeded the innovative thought of organizing a painting competition last year on ‘World Environment Day’ as well. The competition went on to create a record, by etching its name in the ‘Limca Book of Records’ for being the largest painting competition receiving over 12,500 entries.

RJ Abhimanu & RJ Pankaj representing the drive in Chandigarh said, “Our sole purpose behind announcing the largest painting competition for kids is to educate the future generation about the concerning water crisis. With this campaign we aim to reach out to a maximum number of kids and their families and work towards building a sense of consciousness in the minds of everyone. We look forward to spreading an important message far and wide through the expression of art .”
