JOSAA 2nd round seat allotment result to be declared at 5 pm today

The second round seat allotment results for IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs under Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA 2017) will be declared in the evening today. The publication of JoSAA 2nd round seat allotment is scheduled for 5 pm today and the applicants will be able to check the allotment status after logging into the JoSAA website www.josaa.nic.in.

The facility for updating the bank account details for refund has been opened at JoSAA website.

Around 1.5 lakh successful candidates had filled the choices of colleges/ courses through JoSAA 2017, while the total number of choices touched 1.7 crore figure. The allotment statistics revealed that 36,114 candidates were allotted seats in the first round across 97 Institutes. Of these, 11,000 were offered seats in IITs, nearly 18 thousand got seats in NITs, 3 thousand in IITs and some 4,000 students got seats in Other participating GFTIs.

The eligible students were asked to register for JoSAA 2017 counselling from June 15 to 27. The authority had also published two mock allocation results during this window so as to help the students make better choices of institutions. JoSAA had published the first seat allocation results based on the choices filled by the registered students on June 28, after which the allotted students were given time up to 3rd July to report at a Reporting Center. During this window, the students had to either accept or withdraw the allotted seat by reporting at a Reporting Center.

As per the schedule of events of JoSAA 2017, the status of filled and vacant seats (after 1st round) across all the participating institutes was to be published in the morning, followed by the publication of 2nd round seat allocation results. The 2nd round seat allocation will be out after 5 pm and the students will have two days (5 & 6 July) to accept the seats and report to the Help Center. The students will have three options – Freeze, Float or Slide – after the allocation of seats. To exercise one of the options, the students will have to reach the Reporting Center, the list of Reporting Centers is available at the JoSAA website.

The students who will be allocated a seat will have to download the Provisional Seat Allocation Letter and an e-challan for the payment of seat acceptance fee. The seat acceptance fee is Rs. 20,000 for candidates with the category tag SC, ST, Gen-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-Pwd and ST-PwD. For all other candidates, the seat acceptance fee is Rs. 45,000.

The candidates are required to produce their original admit card of JEE Advanced 2017 during seat acceptance and admission. Those who have lost the original admit card can get the duplicate copy of admit card by appearing in person at a zonal IIT with a demand draft of Rs. 1,000 in favour of Organizing Chairman, JEE (Advanced) 2017 payable at Chennai. Those students who have already accepted an allotted seat will be able to withdraw their admission by reporting at a Reporting Center before the last round of seat allocation.

The status of filled and available seats for the third round will be displayed at JoSAA website after 10 am on 7th July, while the seat allocation (third round) will be out at 5 pm on the same day. The seat allocation across all the participating institutes is proposed to be done in Seven Rounds, with the last round seat allocation scheduled for 18th July.
