NewZNew (Chandigarh) : The schedule of unique initiative of Punjab government and SGPC – Dharmik Darshan Yatra – started from Patiala has changed respecting the people’s devotion. Displaying the relics of three Guru Sahibans the yatra has witnessed unprecedented rush leading to the Punjab government changing its scheduled programme.

The Education Minister and member of yatra’s management committee Dr Daljit Singh Cheema while issuing the changes schedule said that started from Patial with full enthusiasm, the yatra has seen unprecedented rush. Respecting the people’s devotion and their demand the yatra has been extended. The schedule will be issued again after May 13.

The education minister said that instead of reaching Talwandi Sabo on May 7, the yatra will reach Mansa on May 7, move towards Maur and reach Takht Sri Damdama Sahib at Talwandi Sabo on May 8. In order to make devotees have darshan of the relics in a peaceful manner, the bus carrying relics will be stationed at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib on May 9 and May 10. On May 11 the yatra will started from Talwandi Sabo and passing through the areas of Bathinda will reach Gidderbaha. On May 12, the yatra will cross Malout and reach Sri Muktsar Sahib. At the historical land of forty Muktas the yatra would halt at Sri Muktsar Sahib on May 13. He said that the further program for May 14 would be issued later.

Dr Cheema said that the rush of devotees is beyond the expectations of organizers of event. A sea of humanity has swollen to have darshan of the holy relics. The villages, towns and cities lying on the route of yatra witnessed heavy rush.

He added that on the first day when the first portion of yatra reached Nabha, it last portion was in Patiala. The unprecedented number of devotees delayed the yatra by several hours. He added that the enthusiasm of sangat can be gauged from the fact that the yatra reached Barnala late by 24 hours. First day halt was at Barnala, but the yatra reached Sangrur late night. He said that now devotees can have easy darshan of the yatra. Moving in the form of procession stretched over several miles, the devotees have made government take decision to change the schedule.
