• STUDENTS SCORCH THE FIELD IN TRACK & FIELD EVENTS AT DIKSHANT INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, ZIRAKPUR’S ANNUAL SPORTS DAY

NewZNew (Panchkula) : Panchkula’s Tau Devi Lal Stadium came alive with young athletes of Dikshant International School, Zirakpur taking the facility’s track and field arena by storm. The occasion was the Annual Sports Day of the School which was declared open by Mr. Vivek Atray (IAS), Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula. The sports meet commenced with a March Past by the 4 Houses – Rabindra, Sarvapalli, Siddhartha & Vivekanand, which was followed by flag hoisting and oath taking ceremony. Senior school students took part in an array of track and field Inter House events for both Boys and Girls. These included 100 metres, 200 metres, 4* 100 metres relay, triathlon etc.

A string of fun races were held for the Primary School students. The little ones showed their talent in competitions like Balancing book, Frog race, Dressing up, Ball Relay, Potato Race, Sack Race, Backward Race, One legged race, Three legged race, Dribbling race etc. All these events enlivened the atmosphere with the participants showcasing their sporting prowess to the tune of deafening applause from an enthralled audience. The competitors far exceeded expectations and performed to an exceptionally high standard in all events. Mr. Mitul Dikshit, Chairman of the school said ““The idea at our school is to develop in students’ a spirit of participation and more importantly sportsmanship. Though the environment was charged up with competition as many medals were up for grabs, the idea was also to make students adopt exercise and sports as part of their daily regimen and make them simply have a good sporty day out.”

Some very colourful drills like a Martial arts display was also part of the Sports Day.

Dikshant International School, Zirakpur’s Annual Sports Day stood apart from similar meets due to the attention paid also to Athletics’ events for Subject Staff, Teachers, Mothers and Fathers. The final results were – Vivekananda House headed the points tally followed by Rabindra house claiming the Runners up position. Vivekananda House was honoured with the trophy for being the Best March Past contingent.
