NewZNew (S A S Nagar) : The celebrations of Digital India Week concluded at Quest Group of Institutions. Chairman Quest Group D S Sekhon presided over the function. At the moment various programmes were organised to sensitise students and residents about the ongoing activities under the Digital India platform. The programme includes projects that aim to ensure that government services are available to citizens electronically and people get benefit of the latest information and communication technology.
Various workshop were organised to update students to use the open source software rather than going for licensed version software. At the moment workshops on every software like Libra suite, Linux, C/C++, Scilab, Turtle, Basic IT Skills and many more offered by Spoken Tutorial, IIT Bombay etc were organised & newly created software OSCAD was also reviewed which is used for circuit simulations and find out different parameter characteristics of the circuit.
While Speaking at the moment Chairman D S Sekhon said that the main reason of Digital India Week celebration was to empower every citizen with access to digital services, knowledge and information. Digital India aims to transform the country into a digitally empowered knowledge economy .He further added that the Punjab Government had ushered in digital services under governance reforms and made it easier for people to have their work done. He briefed the students on technologies that were being increasingly used in everyday lives, from retail stores to government offices.
He opined that mobile governance is the key and it is a monumental task which needs proper speedy infrastructural development in villages to make this programme a success through digital literacy.
