NewZNew (Chandigarh) : The concept of engagement of the family by corporate is in no way a new phenomenon. One of the neglected and least explored aspects of employee engagement is the relationship and bond of organization with the employee’s family.  In a step towards bringing the employees’ families together on a single platform, Connect Broadband, the leading Wire-line and Broadband service provider organized a two-day “Connect Family Carnival” for its employees, appreciating their dedication and commitment towards the organization. Held on August 22-23, 2015 at Suryavillas resort, the two-day carnival was attended by employees and their families who got together to have a gala time.

Around 35 employees accompanied by their families drove up to Suryavillas Resort near Dharampur, HP, to relax and have two days of fun and frolic. At the resort, they got an opportunity to sit back and enjoy the fresh air helping them calm their minds and soothe their bodies. The picturesque location of the resort and the calmness of the surroundings helped them be one with nature. There were fun games at the carnival like Airgun, Ring Game, Kite Flying, Tambola, Cricket, Lucky 7, Pool games etc which helped them unwind. These games not only gave employees an opportunity to enjoy and bond with their families but also with their colleagues and their families, thus promoting a family-like atmosphere in the organization.

A highlight of the “Videocon Connect Family Carnival” was the gala evening where ‘Ali Brothers’, the Sufi sensation from the world-renowned Patiala Gharana enthralled the audience with a voice that instantly ‘touches the heart’ and ‘connects with the soul’, transported the listeners into the world of Sufi saints with their heart-warming rendition of soulful compositions.  As if a spell had been cast on them, the employees and their families listened to the singers in complete silence, giving the evening a very heavenly feel.

The carnival was an effort to show our appreciation for them, also giving them an opportunity to unwind, relax and spend quality time with their families. The idea was to ‘connect’ with our employees outside the workspace and also give them an opportunity to connect with each other outside a formal set-up. ”
