NewZNew (Amritsar) : Coir Kranthi Express – a first of its kind exhibition to highlight modern face of coir, today reached Amritsar. Initiated by Indian Coir Board, a part of Ministry of Micro Small & Medium Enterprises, Government of India; the Coir Kranthi Express was flagged off on July 18th from Coimbatore and will cover over 25,000 kms across the India in span of 120 days. Coir Kranthi Express is a part of the 4th India International Coir Fair 2016, organized in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu in July 2016.
The Coir industry – given its rich heritage, has stayed abreast to latest technology and evolving usage patterns among consumers worldwide. Once confined to being a preferred floor covering material, coir has now spawned to multiple uses – from artifacts to decoration to home utility items to personal accessories to bags & mats to textiles and furniture, among others. Being an eco-friendly material, the humble coir has extended its utility to novel products like coir geo-textile, coir pith, coir wood, etc. with growing demand across the markets. The Coir Kranthi Express showcases a wide variety of the products along with a detailed tour by an in-house guide. Besides, the literature on application aspects of coir products, the product ranges, etc. is also made available in the road show vehicle. In addition to build awareness on the schemes and services of Coir Board for promotion of coir industry; the road show also focuses on enrolment of franchisees of Coir Board to sell coir products all over the country
