NewZNew (Chandigarh) : The mega Conclave is Partnered by Department of Industrial Policy and promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, GoI & States of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir and Uttarakhand.
Hon’ble Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry (Independent Charge), will inaugurate the high-profile event. Hon’ble Shri Harish Rawat, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, will address the investors.
Mr Malvinder Mohan Singh, Chairman, CII Invest North 2016 and Executive Chairman, Fortis Healthcare Ltd said, “Invest North 2016 will build on the last four editions and is slated to attract investments in key sectors of northern states.”
He added that Partner State Governments would get an opportunity to present investment opportunities in their respective states. In addition, one to one meetings are also being organized for project specific discussions with interested investors. The last edition of Invest North saw more than 65 such meetings. A new feature of this year’s edition is B2B meetings as well.
Ms Rumjhum Chatterjee, Chairperson, CII Northern Region and Group Managing Director, Feedback Infra Pvt Ltd said, “Northern States enjoy 26% share in national GDP, 27% of installed power capacity, and 38% of FDI and the region offers vast opportunities for investments. The North also has 59% of dedicated freight corridors linking major ports, and six states of the region exceed national average per capita income.”
She elaborated that the 5th edition of Invest North will focus on opportunities on key sectors through four sectoral plenaries: Opportunities in Defence Manufacturing, Renewable Energy, Start-ups and E-Commerce & Global Engagements for Growth
Invest North has always generated a lot of interest not only from domestic investors, but from international business as well, said Mr Richard Rekhy, Co-and Chairman, Invest North 2016 & CEO KPMG India. This year will see participation of Industries Ministers of Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir along with senior officials from DIPP, State Governments, Ambassadors & Industry Captains. The Conclave is expected to be attended by more than 550 delegates from across the country.
